ARTWORK DESCRIPTION (ENG) |
Based on a monochromatic photo of Auckland’s seashore found in a Facebook album, I remade the landscape into paintings and tried to resurrect engraved light and memory in the picture making them a part of mine. The impression to the seashore, on the contrary, became even more abstract and uncertain during the repetition. I further duplicated the image by methods of mechanical reproduction and computer editing, attempting to find the right colours for this non-existent imaginative landscape. As a result, the ideas of replica, authenticity and originality were blurred after the process of mechanical copying and manual simulation. |
